Japanese energy consulting firm Remixpoint (3825) has made a bold leap into cryptocurrency, boosting its holdings by over 8,000% in just nine months. The company, originally focused on energy services, has increasingly shifted toward digital assets, taking inspiration from firms like Metaplanet.
Massive Crypto Accumulation
Remixpoint held 5.8 billion yen ($38 million) in crypto at the end of December, a dramatic rise from just 68 million yen in March 2024. The company has nearly reached its 10 billion yen ($65 million) target after spending 9 billion yen on crypto as of its latest earnings report.
Most of Remixpoint’s investments are in Bitcoin (BTC), but it has also diversified into Ethereum (ETH), Solana (SOL), XRP, and Dogecoin (DOGE).
Trump’s Victory Fuels Crypto Optimism
The rally in cryptocurrency prices following Donald Trump’s U.S. presidential election victory played a key role in Remixpoint’s investment strategy. With Trump seen as crypto-friendly, investors anticipate looser regulations, leading to increased confidence in the sector.
Since Trump’s election, Remixpoint’s Bitcoin holdings have quadrupled to 125.2 BTC, while its stock price surged over 360% before a recent correction.
Financial Gains and Strategy Shift
In its latest fiscal Q3 earnings report, Remixpoint reported a profit of 1.35 billion yen and an unrealized crypto gain of 658 million yen. Since November 2024, the company has started recognizing valuation gains and losses on its crypto holdings as part of its revenue.
This shift highlights Remixpoint’s evolving approach—treating crypto not just as an investment but as a key financial asset.
Stock Volatility Amid Market Trends
Despite its crypto-driven gains, Remixpoint’s stock fell 15% on Friday, while the broader Nikkei 225 index dropped only 0.79%. This suggests some market uncertainty around the company’s heavy exposure to digital assets.
Still, with the firm’s aggressive accumulation strategy and a potential pro-crypto regulatory environment, Remixpoint remains a key player in Japan’s evolving digital asset landscape.
